3. Clear the small ambushes (5 minutes)

Handle the little items that would otherwise blow up a weekday morning. Sign the form. Start the uniform load. Reply to the birthday-party RSVP. Move the appointment that collides with your call. 4. Set the week's meals and rides (4 minutes)

Decide the rough plan for the two things that drive the most weeknight stress: dinner and transportation. Which nights are easy dinners, which night gets the real meal, who is driving on the compressed evenings. You are not locking in every detail. You are removing the two questions most likely to be asked at the worst hour of the day.

5. Send the week out (3 minutes)

Close by getting the plan to the people who run on it. A short note to your partner with the nights they are on. A message to the sitter with days and addresses. A reminder to the kid old enough to read it. When the week lands in everyone's hands on Sunday night, the questions stop coming to you on Wednesday.
