Overview

The Second Shift Method™ ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices regarding that information. By using secondshiftmethod.com, you agree to the practices described here.

Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly, including:

Email address, when you create an account or sign up for the newsletter
Name, when provided voluntarily
Account sign-in details, handled by our authentication provider, Clerk
Billing details, handled by our payment processor, Stripe
Communications you send to us directly
An optional intake profile, if you choose to fill it out. This is a short set of preferences such as whether you have children and their age ranges, how much time you have, and the areas of family life you most want help with. We use it only to sort the workflow library by what matters to you.

We also collect limited technical and usage information automatically, including browser type, device type, pages visited, time spent on the site, and which workflows and prompts you open or copy. This is used for performance monitoring and improving the workflow library. Details are in the Cookies and analytics section below.

What We Store, and Where

We keep what we store small and we are specific about it. We store:

Account identity through Clerk: your email, name if you give it, sign-in credentials, and your plan status. Your optional intake profile, if you create one, is also stored here on your account.
Billing through Stripe: Stripe processes your payments and holds your card details. We do not store your full card number. We keep a reference to your Stripe customer and subscription so we can manage your plan and refunds.
Limited app data in Vercel KV, our hosting provider's key-value store: anonymous usage analytics, feedback you submit, the queue for the emails we send you, and basic rate-limiting counters.

The one-page Family Profile, the richer record of your household that some workflows use, is built by you and installed inside your own AI tool's memory. It does not live on our servers. We never receive it.

You can review, edit, or delete your intake profile at any time from your account, and you can email us to remove your information. We never sell any of it.

Integrations and Connected Accounts

Some workflows and Runs help your own AI tool connect to accounts you already use, such as Gmail, Google Calendar, Outlook, Instacart, Target, DocuSign, and school apps like ParentSquare, Canvas, and Google Classroom. We provide only the instructions and prompts for setting these up.

Those connections are made between your AI tool and your accounts, through your AI tool's own settings. The Second Shift Method™ does not store, access, receive, or process the contents of your email, your calendar, or any account you connect to your AI tool. We have no access to those accounts and we cannot act on them. You can disconnect any of them at any time from your AI tool's settings.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

Provide your account, your plan, and access to the workflow library
Process payments and refunds through Stripe
Send transactional emails, such as receipts, account notices, and renewal reminders
Send the monthly newsletter, if you signed up for it
Respond to your questions and requests
Improve and develop our content and workflow library
Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.

Email Communications

We send two kinds of email from hello@secondshiftmethod.com. The first is transactional: receipts, account and access notices, renewal reminders, and replies to your questions. These relate to your account and your purchases. The second is our monthly newsletter, which you receive only if you signed up for it.

You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any newsletter email. We aim to publish it monthly, but frequency may vary. We do not send promotional emails from third parties.

Third-Party Services

We use a small set of third-party providers to operate the product: Clerk for account sign-in, Stripe for payments, and Vercel for hosting and its key-value store. Each processes only the data it needs for its role, as described in its own privacy policy.

The Second Shift Method™ is not affiliated with and does not represent ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot, or any other AI tool referenced on this site, and we do not control the data practices of any account you connect to your own AI tool.

Cookies & analytics

We set three kinds of cookies:

Functional (Clerk session, Stripe checkout). Required for sign-in and payment. These are necessary; the site cannot work without them.
Internal analytics (anonymous session id, route + interaction events). We log which workflows get opened, which prompts get copied, and which queries get searched so we can improve the library. No third-party trackers. No advertising networks. No data is sold or shared.
Preferences (your cookie-banner choice, theme, dismissed banners). Set only when you interact with the controls.

When you first visit, a cookie banner asks for your choice. Allowturns on internal analytics. Reject blocks analytics events from being stored. Functional cookies stay on either way because the product needs them.

You can change your mind at any time by clearing cookies in your browser. We have no third-party advertising cookies on this site, ever.

Data Retention

We retain your account information and communication history for as long as your account is active, or as needed to provide the service. Billing records are retained by Stripe and by us as required for tax and accounting. You may request deletion of your information at any time by emailing us, subject to records we are required to keep by law.

Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information. To exercise these rights, contact us at hello@secondshiftmethod.com. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe.

Children

This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under the age of 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy periodically. Significant changes will be communicated via email to subscribers. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
